Whether walking into a boxing ring or a boardroom, there’s something comforting about having your game face on – literally. The beauty world is noticing, too, with more female athletes heading up beauty campaigns than ever before. In 2024, beauty’s breaking a sweat.

In this corner, making her debut as the first female Muslim boxer to represent Australia at the Paris 2024 Olympics is Tina Rahimi. The pro-MUA-turned-pro-boxer’s journey has given Rahimi a uniquely expert perspective on the beauty-full rise of athletes.

During her four years as a makeup artist, she loved seeing how beauty products gave her clients the power to ”feel more beautiful and shine at their events”. In the ring, beauty gives her strength: “Feeling good about how I look really builds my confidence,” she says, flawless skin and all. Her motto? “Look good, feel good and perform even better!”

“It’s important to know that there are products out there that allow women who train to be the women that we are,” she explains. After all, who better to know what products really last than those who train hard?

This performance-focused sentiment matches the rise of Sunday morning run clubs and 6am Pilates classes, and calls for products that survive our everyday adventures, whether that’s breaking a sweat courtside or having your Elle Woods moment in the courtroom.

In response to a need for makeup that goes the distance, brands are amping up their products’ all-day wear. Too Faced’s newly reformulated Born This Way Soft Matte Foundation (now housed in a travel-friendly tube) has been upgraded to give 24 hours of wear, without that heavy ‘foundation’ feeling. It controls oil, won’t transfer and sets to a sweat-proof, satiny matte finish. In other words, it’s the foundation made to keep up with your dawn-to-dusk days.

As for makeup’s performance-enhancing properties, “I believe it’s important to have self-care practices to perform,” Rahimi concludes. “Makeup is self-care for me, so it definitely helps me achieve my goals!”

Good luck in Paris, Tina!
